Do You Have an Uncontested Case and What Support Do You Need?
Not every divorce or custody case is high-conflict or high-drama. If you and the other party can agree—or want help getting there—this worksheet will help you figure out if your case is truly uncontested and which of my flat-fee services might be the best fit for your needs.
🛠️ How to Use This Worksheet
- Choose “Yes” or “No” for each question below.
- Don’t worry about getting it perfect—just answer honestly.
- If your case isn’t truly uncontested, I’ll point you in the right direction.
- If it is, you’ll get guidance on which service matches your goals, comfort level, and budget.
❗ Do You Have an Uncontested Case?
Do both parties agree to move forward with the divorce or custody case? | Yes | No |
Have you reached an agreement on all key issues—like parenting time, child support, property division, and spousal support? | Yes | No |
Are both parties willing to cooperate, complete paperwork, and sign documents voluntarily? | Yes | No |
Is there no history of domestic violence, intimidation, or manipulation between the parties? | Yes | No |
If you answered “No” to any of the above questions, your case may be contested. I don’t handle contested matters, but I’m happy to refer you to another attorney who does.
If you answered “Yes” to all of the questions above, great! It sounds like you have an uncontested case. Move on to the next section to see what type of support might be right for you.
🧭 What Kind of Support Are You Looking For?
1. Do you want to work through the process together with the other party? | Yes | No |
2. Do you and the other party need help reaching an agreement? | Yes | No |
3. Do you want someone neutral to help guide both of you, not just one side? | Yes | No |
4. Do you feel confident filling out court paperwork on your own, as long as you have general instructions? | Yes | No |
5. Do you want to be able to ask legal questions and get advice focused on your interests? | Yes | No |
6. Do you want someone to draft the agreements for you so you don’t have to? | Yes | No |
7. Do you want someone to prepare all of the court forms so you don’t have to figure it out yourself? | Yes | No |
8. Do you want the most budget-friendly option, even if it means you won’t get personalized advice or help with forms? | Yes | No |
✅ What Your Answers Might Mean
Your answers help determine the level of support that will work best for you—whether you want to handle things independently, have legal guidance focused on your needs, or work together with the other party through mediation.
If you answered “Yes” to working together, needing help reaching agreements, and wanting neutral guidance (questions 1–3):
- ✔️ If you think 3 sessions will be enough to reach agreements and just need help with the written agreements (not all court forms) → The Essential Mediation Package may be a great fit.
- ✔️ If you’d like more time and support, and want all required court documents drafted for you → The Premier Mediation Package may be the better choice.
If you answered “Yes” to wanting legal advice, guidance, or agreement drafting (questions 4–7):
- ✔️ If you feel confident filling out forms yourself but want advice and guidance focused on your interests → You’re likely a good fit for the Plus Package, where I provide step-by-step legal support while you stay in charge of the paperwork.
- ✔️ If you’d prefer not to deal with drafting agreements or forms and want everything prepared for you → You may want the Premium Package, where I handle the drafting based on your goals. (You can also add on filing support if needed.)
If you answered “Yes” only to question 8 and are looking for general guidance but don’t need legal advice or drafting → The DIY Package may be the right fit. It’s an affordable, do-it-yourself option for clients who feel comfortable navigating the process solo.
